DYPSIS LUTESCENS

(Golden Cane Palm)

Golden Cane is one of the most popular and attractive of all palms due to its ease of growth and attractiveness. It’s a clustering palm, with up to a dozen ringed, bamboo-like golden coloured trunks. It’s a very adaptable palm, grows best in full sun in a well drained but moist spot. Golden Canes are drought tolerant, but not frost tolerant. Foliage is evergreen, of fine texture and yellow-green in colour. The root system is non-invasive and can provide some good shade around the pool or home. It’s an excellent screening palm due to its bushy look. Also excellent as a container grown palm, all it needs is a large tub and free-draining potting mix. It will reach a height of around 4 meters in the ground. In the ground it’s best in fairly rich soil, water moderately during dry periods. Very easy to grow and great for landscaping!
